Hello. I hope you are all doing okay at the moment. The news that some small areas of lockdown are being relaxed very slightly has come with mixed reactions from a lot of people It is a good feeling to think that perhaps slowly, we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, but for a lot of people there are very mixed feelings. Feelings of anxiety at 'have we started to ease out too soon', 'is it really safe to send my children back to school', 'will I be safe now I have to go to work as I can't work from home?'.
There has been so much conflicting evidence and discussion in the media during the last few weeks it is no wonder that most of us are feeling confused and worried.
Now is the time to be especially careful and safe as we begin to move back out into the outside world. Please let us hope that we can move forward in a kind, constructive way both to human life and also the fragile healing life of our planet. The air is clearer, the roads are safer, there is less pollution. Let's not throw all this away as we rush back to 'normal' life.
The govt's idea about getting more of us to think about walking and cycling to work and other places I feel is a small, but significant step forward. There will be a lot of people who will say 'I can't do that, I live in a rural community and have to travel by car' and that is fine. But in our cities, surely something can be done so that the pollution levels stay lower, the air we breathe in is cleaner and we are looking after the environment around us. We need to remember that we are sharing this small planet with other species, not just humans, and as our numbers increase, so the room for others diminishes and we are losing precious resources and wildlife.
This too adds to our anxiety and stress levels. Let us still remember to take time for ourselves, to live at a slower pace if at all possible, and to take time to appreciate what is around us, to breathe and give ourselves time to reflect on a daily basis. Use mindfulness in our daily lives to enhance them, to help us give ourselves balance and to see life for what it is, precious.
Peaceful wishes. Sally
